Outside his professional work, Jacopo mentors at the Holberton School and Node School in San Francisco, writes technical articles for the Node.js foundation and Google Cloud Platform community. Occasionally, he is a guest speaker at many prominent global conferences and meetups including DeveloperWeek, Midwest JS, Best Of Web, Paris.js, SFNode and Codito Ergo Sum.

Prior to his work at DigitalOcean he was an SRE helping build and maintain a highly available hybrid multi-cloud PaaS. He is an avid programmer, speaker, educator, and writer. He is an organizer of PyTexas and actively contributes to open-source projects. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, camping, kayaking, and exploring new places.

After serving as a software developer in an elite unit in the Israeli Intelligence branch, Michael worked with a few startups on building and scaling their microservices infrastructure. Prior to co-founding Aspecto, he was the Chief Architect at Playbuzz. In his free time, Michael also lectures and conducts workshops on microservices at conferences.
