DEVELOPERWEEK 2026
The OpenAPI Initiative (OAI) is the organization behind the OpenAPI Specification, a vendor-agnostic language that enables API ecosystems to succeed by describing API capabilities in a way that can be understood by both humans and machines. OpenAPI is the world’s most popular API standard, powering a vast and growing tooling ecosystem and forming the foundation of how APIs are designed, documented, governed, and increasingly consumed by AI and agent-based systems.
Today, OAI is a multi-specification organization, stewarding not only OpenAPI, but also emerging standards such as Arazzo, which enables the description of complex, multi-API workflows, and Overlay, which provides a deterministic and automated way to evolve API descriptions at scale. Together, these specifications give API producers the semantic clarity and structure that intelligent agents need to understand, orchestrate, and reliably interact with APIs, while helping organizations deliver consistent and trustworthy APIs with greater automation, efficiency, and lower cost.
The OpenAPI Summit is an integral part of DeveloperWeek 2026.
